Bigfoot Consulting is available to assist managers of the National Wildlife Refuge System in addressing their policy- and compliance-related needs. Following are the types of services offered.

    NATIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY ACT (NEPA)

  • Determination of appropriate NEPA compliance (process and documentation) required.
  • Development of environmental action statements (EAS) for categorically excluded (CX) actions.
  • Development of environmental assessments (EA), responses to comments, and findings of no significant impact (FONSI).
  • Development of environmental impact statements (EIS), responses to comments, and records of decision (ROD).
    APPROPRIATENESS AND COMPATIBILITY

  • Determination of whether appropriateness and compatibility requirements are triggered, and what documentation is required/desirable.
  • Appropriateness findings.
  • Compatibility determinations (process and documentation).
    WILDERNESS

  • Wilderness reviews, including inventory, study, and recommendation, and associated process and documentation (including satisfying NEPA requirements).
  • Minimum requirement and minimum tool analyses.
  • Wilderness stewardship plans.
  • Management of designated wilderness areas, wilderness study areas, and recommended and proposed wildess areas.
    LAW, REGULATION & POLICY

  • Advice and assistance regarding compliance with NWRS-relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Development of local, regional, and national refuge management policies and regulations.
  • Review, comment, and/or editing of NWRS policies and regulations
